Will edit Geoff Kaye : Discover_E
July 11, 2007 11:52 PM PDT
Geoff Kaye ( great guy and I tested out the Discover-E platform again today to determine new ways of engaging teams in using synchronous learning environments with learners…..that’s the premise anyways. What we did was look at the upload features for Discover-E and the inherent media players which enable people in the virtual learning environment to share content and listen to colloborative pieces of information. We also tested the MP3 recording capacity of the room which I think would be good for “interviews” with people far and wide…sharable, scalable and interactive visually. The issues I faced were : 1. the fact that we both had differing recording levels ( mic. ) 2. fluctuations in amplitude meant I had use use Audacity to “normalise” and to “amplify” his part of the recording for it to appear that we were speaking on the same level - volume. Geoff came into the room from Western Australia and I was behind a tight firewall in Orange. That gives you some idea of distance and possibilities. Tricky but achievable. Have a listen to our recording and see what you think. I think you’ll agree the recording is very, very clear. Very inspirational. Reflections : Identity, E-learning and Social Web Aps.
